When an episode is called “The Tragedy”, you know something bad is gonna happen. And man, did it go off the rails for Mando.

The Mandalorian and Child travel to an ancient site

This episode was absolutely suspenseful every minute. The heart-racing action sequences and looming doom of Moff Gideon made Chapter 14 another fine addition to the series.

First things first, RIP to the Razor Crest. What a glorious ship. It was such a cool additions to all the legendary ships of Star Wars. She was a beauty, and will be missed.

I want to touch on the opening scene before getting into the meat of the episode. The connection between Mando and Grogu has really developed well this season. Their relationship is so father-son like, and it’s painful to listen to Mando discuss sending him off, when in reality he cares deeply for the child. I couldn’t get enough of it.

The clear focus of this episode was the return of Boba Fett and Fennec from Season 1. Again, a lot of lore is discussed here, and it’s official: Jango Fett is a Mandalorian! Boba’s return to his armor may not make it look like his old self, but it was awesome to see the old actor don on his original armor. I’m pumped to see more of Mando/Boba teaming up.

The combat sequences were really well shot, and the action was so cool to watch. It felt like a Star Wars movie with the action; I compare Boba’s close-combat to that of Chirrut Îmwe from Rogue One.

In terms of Baby Yoda’s weird meditation thing, I don’t have a lot to say on it. The planet is where the original Jedi Order was founded, but I couldn’t find much on the “seeing stones”. I’m hoping that gets addressed.

The shorter episode jammed a lot in, including Dark Troopers and the return of the Dark Saber. While it was nice to see Cara Dune again, I’m questioning why Mando is going to recruit the bounty hunters from Season 1. Yes, I want to see Bill Burr again, but he has other allies: Cobb Vanth, the other Mandalorians, etc. I guess I just want to see them again, but we’ll see what the old bounty hunter crew can string up.

Score: 9.2/10: This episode left me in despair for Baby Yoda’s well being, and the impending conflict to come is exciting to think about. The show has come to its main plot point, and Ch 14 does a great job steering us to that.
